Join us for two special Speakers Corner sessions set up in celebration of Black History Month. We can’t wait to see you there!

Session one: Exploring Black History |Tuesday 12th 6:30 till 8pm via zoom

In this session we will be discussing and exploring Black British history in all its glory! Including our own personal histories and the lives and journeys of ancestors and change makers in Britain. We aim to explore this question: What do you know about your history and what do you wish you knew?

Session two: Culture and Identity: Present & Future | Tuesday 26th 6:30 till 8pm via zoom

In this session we will be having a chat about our collective culture and identity in the present and what the future looks like for ourselves (personally and collectively) and the Black Lives Matter movement. We aim to explore this question: What kind of ancestor do you want to be?

You will receive a Zoom link via email closer to the time. Ideally we would encourage everyone to attend both sessions but you are able to go to one or the other. These sessions are for those who identify as having Black heritage.

Remember to check out Project Zazi’s Instagram where we’ll be hosting lots of conversations around Black History month including posts about important figures and allyship and a takeover by some of the young people that we work with.

Speaker’s Corner from Project Zazi is a safe space for black people and people of colour to discuss identity in a non-judgmental way with the focus being on you and your views. In the virtual sessions we discuss and debate various aspects of culture such as – where do we feel like we belong? How can we feel safe? What does a healthy relationship look like? What are the impacts of expectations from others? How does gender play a role in our identity? Is it okay to forgive? How can we heal?
