We’re fortunate enough to be Bristol Roller Derbys chosen charity for 2014/15, and in the last year they’ve been busy doing some epic fundraising for our work in mental health across Bristol!

Most recently, the energetic bunch took on the task of skating from Bristol to Bath to raise money for OTR (we’re exhausted just thinking about it…)

You can see a video of their journey, including some bumps and bruises along the way, below:

Having completed this brilliant feat, they presented our fundraiser Johnny a cheque for a whopping £1,237! Wow!

Big thanks to Ben for the pic – did we grin cheesily enough?

To put that figure into perspective, this amount could allow OTR to provide up to 123 young people with an emergency session. Or, it could fund six weeks of counselling sessions for 25 young people struggling with self-harm.

It’s fantastic that the BRD folks have recognised our work and contributed to continuing it with their efforts.

Thank you!

Formed in 2010, Bristol Roller Derby is a not-for-profit organisation and run entirely by members for members on a voluntary basis. Each member has a role and contributes to the running of the league. Find out a little more about the fast and furious world of BRD below:
