Open Space is a creative programme exploring field recording, sound culture and audio storytelling.
Delivered by Noods Levels in partnership with Off The Record (OTR) and BIMM Institute Bristol, the programme invites young people aged 18–25 to explore how sound can be captured, shaped and shared.
Across four sessions you’ll experiment with radio storytelling, soundscape creation, field recording, listening practices and audio collage. We’ll explore how sound connects to place, memory and creativity — from recording everyday environments to transforming those sounds into music and radio pieces.
This isn’t a traditional course, and no previous experience is required. The sessions are designed to be relaxed, collaborative and creative — a space to try things out, learn new skills and meet other young people interested in sound and music.
We are collaborating on this project because connection, community and tools for creative expression all support wellbeing, mental health, sense of self and possibility in the world. The Open Space project is designed to offer these things.
