Nature Works engages young people in a range of nature-based therapeutic practices and offers opportunities to take action to protect our planet – and feel hopeful for its future.
People of all ages say they get a great deal out of being outdoors. Spending time in beautiful, tranquil places is in itself very calming and stress-reducing. Alongside this, trying new things, gaining new skills and learning ways to relax in the outdoors can be hugely uplifting and provide an invaluable opportunity to improve our confidence, self-esteem and resilience. Nature is always supporting us, providing us with clean air, inspiring us with its beauty, encouraging us to connect with the landscape. At Nature Works, we want to offer young people a multitude of different ways to connect with nature.

Projects
Woodwork, Wellbeing and Wilding
OTR is partnering with Bristol Tree Craft once more to offer young people an 8-week ‘Woodcraft, Wellbeing & Wilding’ course, starting this March! In this course, you will be supported to learn a range of traditional green woodworking skills, develop techniques to support your mental health and connect more deeply with the natural world. The programme supported by OTR Nature Works provision.
The Ardagh Youth Project
OTR has teamed up with Action for conservation, a UK-based environmental education and action charity that works with young people from diverse backgrounds, to offer a free, 6-week project for young people (11-16) in Bristol to connect with nature, learn new skills, and create an environmental action project. Sessions include nature activities, crafts, games, and conservation work in OTR’s courtyard garden.
